How Grit Chambers Help Maintain Efficient Sewage Treatmen

Once the dirty water reaches the sewage sludge dewatering, it enters the grit chamber. The grit chamber has a special design. It also slows down the flow of the water so that the heavy materials are able to settle to the bottom of the chamber. Kind of like when you fill a glass with ice cubes and pour in a drink and the ice cubes slowly submerge to the bottom. When the heavy grit settles, the water passes through screens. These screens catch and filter out bigger debris, and the water is cleaner as it continues to the next steps.
