Grit removal

Do you wonder where our water goes after we use it? It is subjected to wastewater treatment BOEEP Products. Simply put, wastewater treatment is the process of cleaning our dirty water so that it can be reused or reintroduced back into nature in a safe way. This goes a long way in protecting our environment and ensures our water supply remains safe for all.

The first step of wastewater treatment is what is referred to as grit removal. But what is grit? Grit consists of small bits of sand, gravel, and other fine particles and can find its way into our wastewater. These can originate in a variety of places, whether from washing our hands or from rain. Removing grit from wastewater, however, is a necessary process. It can break the machines that clean the water and dirty our waters, that’s bad for us, and for the environment as well.

How Grit Removal Enhances Water Quality

The BOEEP process uses a grit chamber. In a grit chamber, wastewater slows down. As this happens, the heavier grit sinks to the bottom of this chamber, while the lighter liquids and solids rise to the surface. This is a big part of the process because it allows for the grit to be separated from the cleaner water.

Why is grit removal so important, you might be wondering? Grit removal is key to maintaining clean water. The grit then settles to the bottom and is removed through a system of pumps and pipes, but if left in the water, it can damage machines involved in the wastewater treatment process. It can be leading to expensive repairs. That, and if machines are faulty, it costs more to repair, which also may result in our water bills being higher. No one wants to pay more for water!
